Make A Difference

Today I am traveling home for Thanksgiving and this year I am flying. We got my ticket about a month ago, but we still had a hard time finding one at a reasonable price because of the holidays but eventually we found this one. The only problem is that I have to change planes in Vegas. My flight only goes from Salt Lake City, UT to Ontario, CA! What would normally have been about an hour and a half flight has turned into an all day adventure... and the flight leaving the gate before mine is running late and it's just wonderful ;)

So what am I doing to keep my self entertained (ok well maybe not entertained, but at least less bored)? I am people watching, the great American pastime. Wait, you thought that was baseball? Sorry to break the news to you, but no one really lies baseball... But everyone loves watching other people. We do it more than anything else. We do it while sitting in meetings, classes, church, walking around the block, driving, waiting for the bus, you get the idea. It's a natural thing we do to stay safe and to keep our eyes busy.

Some people like to imagine what the people they see are thinking about. Others like to imagine that person is on some sort of fun trip or adventure maybe even guess where their final destination might be. But me, I think of one thing I could tell them that would make an impact on them. I'm probably wrong about most of them, but it helps me learn to look at myself from an outer position to see what I could learn from the way others view me.

For example, the girl across from me should know that staying within certain bounds when it comes to fashion will make style choices more pronounced and distinct... Black leggings don't mean your skirt can be 3 sizes too small.

I saw a woman earlier that had a child on a leash and he was running circles around her and when he ran out of leash, he would just drop to the ground and scream. To her I would say, when you learn to understand your child and your child understand what you expect from him, you will both have more respect for each other.

I guess where I'm going with this is that I like to feel that I could make a difference should I put forth the effort. In fact I think that everyone can do something truly wonderful if they can find their niche and just go for it. So what are you waiting for?
To the man who is 200 lbs. overweight and drinking a regular soda because "one diet soda isn't going to make me any thinner" (what I heard him say to his wife), I would say that it's never too late to change the way you live and eat. Even small changes can help, but giving up will never make anything better.

Busy, Busy, Busy; Run, Run, Run....

So lately I have been working on a thousand things at once. My classes aren't particularly hard, just lots of work and time required to get everything done. I have had tons of group projects the last few weeks and for those of you who know me, I'm more of a lone wolf when it comes to that kind of stuff cuz I know what I like and that's all i will tolerate ;) But I can see the end in sight! I don't have any more classes until after Thanksgiving break and then there are only 11 days before finals start! And with finals come a whole new set of problems... So for right now I am focusing on work today and then going home to the warm weather tomorrow for a whole week. It will be divine!

I let Kenady convince me to go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows at midnight last night/this morning... We had free tickets so that's basically why I went. The movie didn't start until after 12:40 and it was 2 1/2 hours long! Needless to say, I didn't get in bed until way late and only got 4 hours of sleep before I had to get up and head to work. It's a good thing that I don't have to do manual labor, and it's an even better thing that I had a two liter of Dr. P in the fridge :)

On and because I'm sure you are dying to hear all about the movie ;) here's what I thought...

Beginning:
"OK, I sort of remember this stuff."

Middle:
"What the hell just happened?"

End:
"Wait, that's it? Do I really have to wait till next summer to see what happens... yeah probably going to forget by then."

I knew going into it that it would be a 2-part movie, but where they stopped it was stupid. You could at least resolve a couple of things to keep up audience moral...

Haha that sounded kind of bitter, I guess it's a really good thing that I have some time to relax! Happy Thanksgiving!
